DIY: Look inspired by Dolce and Gabbana summer 2013 collection and DIY belt

Hello, in my previous post I showed how I made earrings inspired by Dolce and Gabbana summer 2013 collection, click here for more details. In this post I wanted to show the whole look inspired by their collection. I bought amazing vintage DRESS MADE FROM CHIFFON for $30, at etsy store, here the address: http://www.etsy.com/shop/LizsVintageSoffitta?ref=seller_info. The store owner has pretty fabulous vintage collection and the quality of this dress is amazing!. In addition to this I made my own belt for this dress, see this DIY at the end of the post.

DIY belt was made from the bag, the one that is commonly used for rice, they  are made from burlap fabric. So this is the bag I used for my belt:



I  measured my waist, the bag was perfect for the length  I needed, it had no seam at the bottom, so I draw a paper template of the front part, cut it, put the template on the fabric, measured the width from both ends of the template, marked it along the length of the burlap bag and continued drawing. Then  cut out my belt , leaving 1 inch allowance from both sides, this would be folded at the back.

Then I put this template on the felt and cut it, this would go at the back of the belt:

I first glued the burlap extra (allowance) fabric at the back and then when felt part was cut, I glued it to the burlap at the  back:

After this,  I sewed the snaps on, two from each side. That would be the closure:

And finally, I glued the decor trim at the front: for my belt  I chose bright blue.
